I’ve worked with dozens of Auction Houses throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, and the UK. Some are very good and offer a balance of great service, advertising, and specific market exposure.  Some, unfortunately, offer much less and hold payments for several months, while others don’t pay for even longer and/or charge unexpected fees. 

I have very good working relationships with a handful of local and international Auction Houses that provide excellent service at a fair price. It takes an experienced and thoughtful crew, with good leadership to make an auction run smoothly and, at the same time get the bids up and bidding for what you treasure so you can receive the best possible amount. 

With all that said, the Auction market is a ‘fickled’ monster. I’ve seen items sell for MUCH more than what was expected, but often see things go for MUCH less than hoped for. Auctions are a bit of a gamble and that’s why it’s important to be choosy with whom you auction with.
