St. Augustine Coin Dealer

Serving America’s Oldest City

Local History

St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés — on orders of King Philip II of Spain — making it the oldest continuously occupied European-established city in the United States. The Timucua people lived along the St. Johns and Matanzas Rivers long before that, and some historians point to an early Spanish-Timucua meal here as an earlier candidate for the “first Thanksgiving” than the one at Plymouth.

It’s a coincidence of history that a different King Philip is tied to this city’s founding than the one this business is actually named for — Metacomet, the Wampanoag leader — but both trace back to the same era of contact and trade between Native peoples and European newcomers, including the wampum and shell trade networks that ran along the Eastern seaboard.

For Families & Estates in St. Augustine

A city this old holds a lot of old things — coins, currency, jewelry, and collections that have been in St. Augustine-area families for generations.

I offer free, in-hand appraisals for families sorting through an estate or inherited collection anywhere in the St. Augustine area.

A city this old holds more than family coin collections — I regularly appraise Spanish-colonial and early American militaria, maps and prints, religious and decorative art, pottery and ceramics, architectural salvage from historic homes and buildings, and postcards and ephemera documenting four centuries of St. Augustine history, alongside the coins and currency that turn up in nearly every estate.

For Buyers & Investors

St. Augustine’s mix of longtime residents and newer arrivals means steady interest in physical gold and silver as a way to hold real, tangible value — I sell locally, in person, so you walk out with what you paid for the same day.

I sell gold, silver, and platinum by the tube and monster box, locally and in person — same-day takeaway, no shipping.
